Nauticus from the air

Nauticus corner of building Battleship Wisconsin

Nauticus is a major museum of maritime history and technology, located on the water in Norfolk, Virginia. Nauticus incorporates a docking center for cruise ships — the Half Moone Cruise Center — and a retired U.S. Navy battleship, the USS Wisconsin. MGA worked with the Nauticus board and senior staff as well as with representatives from the City of Norfolk, NOAA, and other stakeholders and consultants to review the organizational reality of Nauticus as related to its stated goals.

This collaborative process resulted in a new, clear organizational identity and mission statement. The working group designed a new structure for the board and the staff to support the new mission and identity. A staffing plan, a finance plan, and and administrative plan were prepared, including plans for development and fundraising. Links with community and governmental entities were redefined.

The refreshed identity of Nauticus will serve as the basis for new, updated facilities, exhibits, and educational offerings, an increased presence in the region, and a sustainable future.
