| 2006 Potomac, MD Project completed 2007 Gwathmey Siegel & Associates Architects 26,000 GSF private art museum on a 125-acre site Building Program and Space Need Plan |
One hundred twenty-five acres of rolling landscaped lawns, meadows and woods in Potomac, Maryland are the site for a private client’s assemblage of buildings and outdoor sculpture. The buildings, which include a main residence, a guesthouse, pool house and a private art museum, are located around a two-acre pond. Visitors entering the estate pass a gatehouse and drive along a tree-lined road that splits in two directions, one side leading to the residential complex and the other across to the museum, which face each other across the pond. The drive to the museum leads to a court with large-scale contemporary sculpture. MGA reviewed the client’s art collection and interviewed him regarding his goals for this very distinguished collection. We prepared a building program and space need plan for this dramatic, purpose-built private art museum. |
